Month: December 2014

2014….

Morning lovelies, I hope you are all well ??
I have seen lots of posts popping up about people’s projects that they have created in 2014, and in general what kinda year 2014 has been, I have been thinking about it for a few days and coming back and adding things to this post, taking things away and then this morning i finally hit publish.
2014 for me has been a very hard year, but also a very good year, I feel that I have learnt a lot this year, both personally and in crafting.
Crafting wise I think it finally dawned on me how much the crafting world has changed over the years, and I have come very close a few times to shutting my craft room door and saying goodbye.
I have been on some amazing design teams this year, I have also said goodbye to some design teams…and sadly some friends. But I have gained some truly amazing friends, and feel extremely lucky to be/have been on some of the Design Teams.
I think creativity wise I have drifted a lot this year between mixed media and colouring, I have also started to upcycle a lot more and finally got myself a sewing machine…it is only a very small one but after my mother scaring me off sewing years ago it is a start.
Personal life wise this has probably been the worst year for me health wise, i think after lots of denial I have finally realised that my health problems do, and will continue to affect my everyday life…honestly it was a very hard thing to come to terms with..BUT it could always be a lot worse and at least I wake up everyday, that is something that not everyone is blessed with and my moto for 2015 is certainly take it one day at a time πŸ™‚
This year we was also hit with the news that my partners Grandad had leukemia…I cannot even begin to explain to you what this did to my partner, especially when both Grandad and Nan were put into care homes, and then in October he sadly passed away….I cannot put into words what an amazing Man he was and how close him and my partner were and honestly i think part of my partner died with Grandad. I class myself so very very lucky to have known him and i don’t think i realised what an impact he had on not only my partner but also me, he really did have an amazing heart.
Those who know me closely will know my beliefs and one of them is that we never truly die, our physical body does, but our energys still remain…i know some people think that is crazy, but for me is it what I feel, so i know Grandad is still around, but I think we will be going into 2015 still feeling the hole he has left.
Gosh this has turned into a bit of a dark post hasn’t it ?? Sorry about that !!
The HUGE plus of 2014 has been my amazing friends, I can honestly say without them and my amazing partner I wouldn’t have got through 2014….so THANK YOU, I am extremely blessed to know you all, and cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for all of us πŸ™‚
I am also working on some great stuff for early 2015 that I know you will love…so keep your eyes peeled πŸ™‚

I looked back across my blog for 2014 and picked some of my favorite projects…I hope you like them
This card i just love how it came out, and also this blog post  was when i could FINALLY announce I was part of the Spectrum Noir team…I honestly cannot tell you what an amazing team this is, the talent is beyond incredible, and they are all such kind and lovely people.
This card was a quick card but i just love how it turned out ! It was made for Globecraft Piccolo and all the details can be found here
Who doesn’t love Tiddly inks ?? This has got to be one of my favorite images of all time, it always makes me smile, I used this card to enter the Tiddly ink’s DT call, I sadly did not make it, but was picked as one of their top 25 artists which was fantastic.
This card had a lot of love put into it, the Stamp is a Sheena Douglass stamp that as soon as I saw it I wanted to buy it to create a card for Nan and Grandad…I never got round to getting the stamp and then this year i KNEW I had to get it, so i did and It has been sent to nan.
This card was created for Treasured Times Rubber Stamps and the image is designed by Mi Ran and i think is so beautiful, this was one of my full on cards and i was pleased with how it turned out.
So there you go…sorry for the long blog post !!!
I know many of you won’t be around over the Christmas period so I wanted to say Merry Christmas and thank you for always stopping by and leaving that little bit of love on my blog πŸ™‚
Here to an amazing 2015 for everyone, and for now..at least my craft room door will be staying open.

Sheena One Day Wonder

Morning lovelies, hope you are all well. Thank you all for your lovely comments, I am very lucky to have such lovely blogger friends πŸ™‚
I wanted to share with you some more samples I made for Sheena’s One Day Wonder tomorrow on Create and Craft.
This was a total unplanned flick some Aquatints around kinda card and i love it ! I then inked through one of the new stencils (I think this one is my favorite) and added one of the new stamps.

I used the pastel Aquatints for this one and created a wash background, I then stamped one of the new stamps onto some acetate and fixed over the top with some brads, I then mounted it onto some kraft card and added some ribbon to create a hanger.
How great is this guy ? He is one of the new stamps and comes with some great sentiments, I coloured him using Spectrum Noir Pencils and then used some Pebeo drawing gum to mask him and i then created the background using Aquatints…the stencil is the same stencil that i used on my projects that can be found here, the corners are great and i can see them being used lots. I also added some frantage to this just to added some texture.
I am so in love with this stamp ! I used to have a highland cow so it is just perfect and again comes with some great sentiments, I coloured it using Spectrum Noir Pencils and then I run one of the new stencils through my ebosser with some Core’dinations card and then lightly sanded it back.
I know so many people who will love this stamp, it is huge and so much fun to colour !! I coloured it with my Spectrum Noir Pencils and then fussy cut it. The background was created using Aquatints and one of the new stencils. I then 3d mounted the house along with the sentiment, which comes with the house set.
Make sure you check out the shows, also head on over to Sheena’s Facebook page  for info and some of Sheena’s beautiful samples.

Sheena Douglass One Day Wonder

Morning lovelies, I hope you all had a nice weekend ?
The lovely Sheena Douglass will be launching some new fab stencils and stamps this Thursday as a One Day Wonder on Create Craft Tv, I was very lucky and was asked to make some samples for the launch.
What do you think…..
I love this image, and she comes with some fantastic other stamps, I have used mainly Aquatints to create this, the wood was created using one of the new stamp sets and is actually a full tree but I used just the branches to create the wood…can you see the eyes ? how great are they !!

I used sea salt technique with my Aquatints to create the back ground for this, this is one of the new stencils launching, i love the corners and they can be used on so many projects.

This wolf is awesome ! Sheena is also launching a great script stamp set which includes two different font styles, i have used one on the background of this card.

Aquatints again on this card, this time i used Faux bleaching technique along with one of new stencils and stamps.

I loved making this card, I have used my Aquatints again and using gesso and distress ink with one of the new stencils, i then used one of the new stamps and stamped onto acetate, i then created a bow front with the acetate.
I hope you like all the samples, Sheena will also be showing Aquatints, gilding waxes and mixed media kits.
The shows are on Create and Craft on Thursday 11th December at the following times:
8am GMT
11am GMT
2pm GMT
4pm GMT
7pm GMT

Darice…

Good morning lovelies, it a crisp December morning here on the lovely fens, and it is beautiful. I often forget how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful area, my hip has been giving me some problems this week, but I don’t mind because the huge plus is it means I am up really early, we have french doors in our kitchen and a beautiful view the sunrise each morning, it always makes me smile πŸ™‚
Anyone on to some samples I have made for some fab embossing folders by Darice, It will be on your screens on Monday 8th Decemeber on Create and Craft, there is some brilliant versatile folders on the show so make sure you catch it if you can. If you can’t catch the show then head on over to Crafter’s Companion Website to see the full range
I used the Chevron folder for this card and went with a mono theme, after embossing I rubbed my Staz on ink pad over the top and then using a silver pen i coloured in the debossed sections, I then added some seam binding, nice quick card for both male and female.
I used the Circles folder for this card and went for something different, I die cut some circles and then embossed them using the folder, i then used gilding wax and gold pen (my gilding wax run out half way through!) to highlight the embossed detail, i then added some twine, a sentiment and distressed the card.
This one was using the chevron folder and i embossed 3 different colours of Core’dinations card and then cut out 2 sections from each colour and glued them together on the card, i then sanded over the embossed detail and added a sentiment…really like how this turned out.
Items used:
Seam Binding
Twine
Both Sentiment Stamps are from issue 4 and 5 of Crafter’s Companion Crafter’s Inspiration Magazine.
I hope you are all having a nice weekend and managing some crafting.

Unlock your creativity…..

Hello lovelies, I hope you all had a lovely weekend ? The big countdown to Christmas has began !
But I have something non Christmas to show you today. I have been playing with some more of the Lazer cuts from That Craft Place , and also Spectrum Noir Aquatints…what do you think ?
I have to say sorry about my rubbish photos, my good camera broke and until i get a new one i am stuck with my old one, which isn’t the greatest.
I have used the Bright & Beautiful Set of Aquatints and also the gold from the Essentials set. The wooden lock is from That Craft Place and I have Gessoed it and then built up layers of Acrylic paint and Aquatints.
Once I built up the layers I gave a thick layer of Decoart One Step Crackle and I rubbed the Gold Aquatint over the top, you can see here just how bold the orange from this set it.
I LOVE the purple in this set, here I let the pink run into the purple.
Incase you haven’t heard of Aquatints (where have you been ?!?!) they are a professional liquid watercolour, they come in 6 different sets and have so many different uses. they also come with pipettes and brushes…which are brilliant quality, you can find all the info and the set here
Also don’t forget to check out the fantastic range of Lazer Cuts from That Craft Place, there really is something for everyone πŸ™‚
Happy Crafting πŸ™‚
