Simon Saturday Cherished release review

If you guys saw my post yesterday, or checked out Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop you will already know that this week sees Simon’s latest release which is called “Cherished”

Cherished Collection from Simon Says Stamp

I wanted to share the products from the release and also any ideas I have for the products.

So grab a cuppa and join me.

The release

This release from Simon is comprised of-

6 Clear Stamp Sets

1 Background Stamp

8 Die sets

3 Stencils

3 Sequin Mixes

1 set of Suzi’s Paintable’s

The first impression I got from the release was it was a really nice mixed release with a variety of products for most crafter’s, most of the time there is a theme to companies releases and one of the main things I like about Simon Says Stamp is that they do often try to do something for most crafters.

If you have known me for more than a few years you will know I used to do a lot of mixed media and  loved stencils and I have to say these stencils are some of the most beauitfully detailed stencils I have ever seen. This did concern me slightly as I have had detailed stencils before and when I tried to ink through them, or use texture paste the detailed areas just couldn’t take it and the stencil would lift, or sometimes even break !

I was lucky enough to be sent one of the stencils, the beautiful Star Medallion (click on any of the images to be take to the products)

I was instantly impressed with the thickness and quality of the stencil and used it with several different mediums and it held up brilliantly…so much so I am going to be ordering the other two stencils.

Circular Lace

Heart Mandala

Envelope Greetings

I am so happy that we are now decorating our envelopes more and that craft companies are bringing out some beautiful products for us to use for this purpose. I love giving a handmade card in an envelope which has been personalised in some way, so the fact that we are now seeing more and more products to help us do this is nothing but a huge positive in my opinion.

This release saw the below stamp set which can be used to create some great finishing touches to envelopes.

I instantly smiled when I saw the “I thought you could use a bit of kindness today” I think that is just perfect and of course can also be used on cards.

There were also some other products from the release that caught my eye for using with envelopes, and that was some of the dies.

I know these aren’t for envelopes but I think these would look great on the flap of the envelopes just to add that something extra and it is something I will definitely be trying when I get the dies and will let you know how they turn out.

There was also several other die sets in this release.

Wonky Shapes dies, these are available as individual sets or as a set. This is a must for me, I LOVE the wonky stitched look and the heart dies are huge ! (largest is 5.25″ x 4.6″) and yes you do get the Wonky word die included which I think is brilliant.

Big Perfect Shapes These I think could be lots of fun and also have a co-ordinting stamp set (listed below)

Drifting Stitches Dies These would be great for holiday cards or just to add that extra something, they would definitely be fun to play around with.

Floral Sparkles  these are really pretty and I have seen some beautiful samples with them. They won’t be a rush out and order for me, but I will purchasing them soon, I think you could create some beautiful inlaid cards with these and the straight one could also be used on envelopes.

The stamps for this release are all different and varied.

Cool Panda what can I say about this guy, he is cute, you can dress him up and I love the sentiments. I am hoping for a co-ordinating die set for this set.

Summer Flowers These are a must for floral fans and also follow the style of the previously released Spring Flowers and More Spring Flowers The Bird Of Paradise flower is just beautiful and I cannot wait to colour it with my Polychromos.

Thoughtful Messages I love build able sentiment sets and think this one ticks all the boxes for a great all round sentiment set.

Rebecca Lace Background Stamp I think this is possibly one of the most beautiful stamps I have seen, the detailing is just beautiful and it is top of my order. I think the beauty of this stamp is you wouldn’t need to do much to create a beautiful card with it. Even just heat embossing would be enough.

I plan to play around with watercolours and Distress Oxide inks.

Crafting Time  This stamp isn’t for everyone but it certainly made me smile and I know so many crafter’s who will be buying this, such a fun stamp and in Kristina Werner’s beautiful hand writing it would make a fab gift for a crafting friend.

Sequins Mixes, you all know by now about my love for sequins and these are no exception. Really beautiful colours and they are a must for any fellow sequin addicts like me.

Suzy’s Birds & Butterflies  I have to confess to never purchasing any of Suzi’s Paintable prints but this set is a definite, it is so pretty and I love that they come on watercolour card.

So there you have all the products from this release. As I said for me it was a nice varied release and honestly there was nothing about this release I didn’t like.

The must have items for me are the rest of the stencils, Wonky Shapes dies,Rebecca Lace Background Stamp  and also all the border/ edge dies….especially to try on envelopes.

What did you think about the release ? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Wish I had crafting friends nearby so we could share things like the new stencil–beautiful, but just too expensive for my budget. I do love a lot of the release, but totally don’t get that one stamp & can’t imagine who would use it, but guess that’s just me (& a friend I know who said the same thing). I do really love the new edge dies! Will enjoy seeing what you make with this release, Tracy!

    1. Thank you Greta. Yes it’s very much a tongue in cheek stamp that I think is definitely not for everyone.
The stencils are very beautiful, if I hear of any offers or coupons I will let you know xxx

  2. The stencils look lovely , so too the floral stamp set and the floral sparkle looks so pretty Tracy. One day I will make an order but am still put off with the postal charges and conversion rates are not so good anymore , it’s a shame. Xxx

    1. Hey lovely, they are gorgeous. There is a current $5 off coupon if you want it let me know. How about splitting the shipping cost with someone ? Xxx
