Simon Saturday

Hello my lovelies and welcome to the official first Simon Saturday of 2018.

I do hope you all had a lovely holiday season and that 2018 is treating you all well so far.

I recently received the January Card Kit ( Im guessing it got held up with the holiday post)

If you haven’t seen this kit is a love themed kit in some beautiful colours. As I am typing this the kit is still in stock, I will link to the kit and also all the items individually at the end of this post.

Here Valentines isn’t really a bad thing and me and hubs don’t celebrate it at all so I will be honest that I sometimes struggle with Valentines themed cards but I have to say this kit was really nice to work with and i didnt struggle to come up with ideas at all….and I LOVE the puffy stickers.

Speaking of the puffy stickers I used them on my first card.

I have used all elements from the kit on this. I used circle die to randomly die cut the circles out of the piece of patterned paper and then created a card base with the Schoolhouse Red card and adhered it using foam tape.

Once it was adhered I added some of the adorable puffy stickers….these really are so cute and aren’t too puffy like some can be, they also have gorgeous gold detailing.

The sentiment is from the paper pad and I thought it went well with the little smiley faces. Super simple card that was fun to create and anyone can do.

For the second card I wanted to do something clean and simple and using just the stamp set that came with the kit.

There is several heart stamps included with the kit but i went with one of the smaller solid hearts and stamped them in rainbow colours, I did roughly mark out where I wanted them with pencil first because even with the Misti I just cannot eyeball things like this and need all the help I can get.

I was going to use the sentiment that said Love You but changed my mind and thought this one suited the card better.

For the card base I used the Doll Pink card from the kit to create a top folding note card which I adhered this piece flat to. I really like how simple this card looks and would be great for bulk cards if you have a Misti or similar.

Do you have this kit ? If so i’d love to see what you have created with, just drop me link below so i can visit.

  1. Another great use of Simon kit. I have now subscribed and look forward to seeing what you create with the next one.
If you could so something with watercolours that would be good as I struggle with them.

  5. Nope–didn’t get the kit, but I love seeing how you used it, Tracy! The puffy stickers are so cute, but I really love the stamped hearts card! The black XOXO is the perfect sentiment! Glad to hear you say the MISTI doesn’t totally solve the lining up images issue as I’ve found the same thing. I LOVE making Valentine’s, but wish there were more sentiments appropriate for friends. After all–hubby just gets one Valentine per year & I don’t have kids or wedding cards to make. Actually, it’s hard to find sentiment stamps that are actually sentiments I’d send to people, so I’m always on the look for good ones. Guess I need to get over wanting every sentiment in a set to be one I’d use–haha! As far as ideas for your next SS post–I enjoy seeing you show how to do various techniques or design ideas & I’m always up for seeing how to use newer SSS products. I’m still debating if I’m going to add any stamps/stencils/dies when I next purchase basics like ink pads & glue. Hugs, Greta
