Wednesday Challenge Design Team Call

This week the challenge is

Happy Birthday!

We are celebrating our 9th birthday this week so its time for a special celebration!! 🎉

The last 9 years have flown by so quickly and I know that many of you have been joining in with the challenges side the very beginning! This challenge would not be here without YOU and your support. So we would like to say a HUGE thank you and give you the opportunity of winning not one but one of NINE $50 Gift Vouchers to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store How AWESOME is that!!

We are showcasing our very own Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.

For my card this week I have used some of the cute Picture Book dies.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I used the Happy Penguin and wanted it to look like he had his wings/arms around the other two. I know none of these animals “go together” But they joy of crafting is you can put anything together and i thought they looked super cute 🙂

The background I created with Distress inks and Clarity Stencil brushes to give a softer look and added some water droplets.

Once I had stamped the sentiment it kinda blended in a bit too much so I used a white gel pen to add some highlights to it.

I also added some details to the animals with the gel pen.

I added the clouds randomly with some adhered with foam tape for some dimension and added some shimmer to them with Tonic Glitter Brush pen.

A fun card to create, I really do recommend the Picture Book dies to anyone.

Do you use Instagram ?  If so please add  #ssswchallenge to your challenge entry uploads so we can see them on there too !

  1. What a sweet trio of animals on your card! I agree totally with taking creative license in the crafting world – that’s what makes it FUN! So excited for Simon Says Stamp celebrating 9 years – woo hoo! They are awesome for offering 9 gifts for this challenge and a favorite company of mine!

  2. Tracy, your card has planted a mega-watt smile allllll over my face! How adorable are those critter friends – and in card-making land, they go together perfectly (just like the foursome in the Best Friends set)! Beautiful background and the smile-face clouds! EEK! Cuteness to the nth degree! I thought about entering the DT call, but when I saw the names of the others applying…well, let’s just say my confidence turned to mush. Some amazing designers will be joining the Simon Says family and I look forward to seeing their creativity while I work on polishing my own!

    1. Carol thank you so much for your kind comment.
