Creating a galaxy effect with Spectrum Noir Aquatints

Hey ! I hope you are all well ?
No video today ! but I wanted to share with you a couple of cards that I made for a tutorial over on the Spectrum Noir Blog.
All things sky and galaxy are bang on trend at the moment, and I LOVE it. I am a huge night time person and could speak hours watching the night time sky…I know I am strange.
I have seen a few people saying how they love the galaxy effect but its hard to do….and it really isn’t!!
Back in the day ( I sound old!) I used to paint….not well, but it was my crafting back then and one of things I could paint over and over was night skies & Galaxies. So if I can do it, then anyone can and I encourage you all to try it.
I created the below cards using Spectrum Noir Aquatints, but a lot of mediums work well, especially waterbased ones such as water colour paints.
I did two different effects with these, the bottom one was using just one layer of colour and one layer of black, the top one was done using two layers of colour and one layer of black.
Once this one was dry I used Simon Says Stamp Falling Stars die (all links and supplies are listed below) to die cut the main panel and then adhered that too some Silver Glitter card. I then heat embossed the sentiment in Silver onto some black cardstock and using foam tape I added this to the card. I then added some Silver Sequins Stars from Pretty Pink Posh.
This one I tried something totally different and it was a NIGHTMARE to photograph. I used white embossing powder on the main panel to emboss the sentiment and then using silver embossing powder I heat embossed the same sentiment onto a strip of Vellum, I then adhered it so that it was slightly higher and gave a 3Dish look, I LOVE how it turned out in RL, it is just one of those effeects that gets lost a bit when you photo it ! I then just added some of the die cut stars from the other card, and a couple of the Stars from Pretty Pink Posh.
I was going to go with black card bases, but decided on white to make it pop that little bit more.
If you want to check out how I made these and the Aquatint Colours I used then head on over to the blog to check out the tutorial which can be found here
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
I hope you have an amazing day.

Clearly Besotted Just Hatched…

Hiya ! I hope you are all well and had a nice weekend ? Happy Spring !!
Sorry for not being about much over the last week.
I wanted to share a card today that I created using one of the new releases from Clearly Besotted Stamps and also the new Aquablend pencils from Spectrum Noir.
For those who haven’t heard of Clearly Besotted then I highly recommend them, Stephanie and the team are amazing and the stamps always stamp perfectly and range from seriously cute to some beautiful florals, and they also have matching dies for a lot of their sets. You can buy directly from Clearly Besotted on the link above, and I know in USA Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hudson both sell them.
The Spectrum Noir Aquablend pencils….Oh my !!! Now yes i am on the Spectrum Noir design team, but i will always be honest and I have to say I am in love with these pencils. My first colouring medium was watercolour so it is something I always have a huge soft spot for and these are perfect, they blend beautifully and come in a range of lovely colours and are really nice and bright too.
I finally have my camcorder and we are in the process of setting up so I can create crafting videos, I promise one of the first ones I will do will be using these pencils.
Anyway onto the card. I have used the seriously cute Hot Stuff stamp set.
How adorable is it ! I love dragons so really couldn’t resist this set.
I have used the little one hatching and the just hatched sentiment.

I have stamped using Versafine onto some Ranger Watercolour card and then I used my number 3 brush to take colour directly from the lead of the pencil.
I am very impressed at how well you can layer colour and create texture with the pencils, the dragon was coloured using a light green blended with some yellow and then i took a darker green and dotted the colour to create some texture and almost look scale like.
I added some very light shading around the little fella.
Around the edge of the finished piece I used two of the Avery Elle Pierced Rectangle dies, the joy of these dies is they don’t cut and just leave the piercing details so i was able to add this double dotted detail without having to worry about it cutting the rectangle out.
I then adheared a sheet from Lawn Fawns new let polka in the meadow paper pad onto a card base which is just slightly larger than A2.
I used some fun foam and adheared that onto the back of the watercoloured card and using some strong glue adheared that onto the card base.
What I love about this card is you could send it as an Easter/Spring card, but also for a new baby card. It is a set I will definitely be using lots of times.
I hope you like the card, thank you for stopping by today.
The supply list is below.
Have a great day and happy crafting
Supplies Used-

Who doesn’t like Cupcakes ?

Hello lovelies…I hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend.
The card I am sharing today is featuring Cupcakes and as the title says who doesn’t like cupcakes ?!
I have used the below stamp set by Avery Elle, this is fun set and i love all the little extras you get with it.
Our 4" x 6" Cupcakes clear photopolymer stamp set is perfect for creating a sweet greeting. The sentiments included in this set are great for birthdays or a sweet hello.
The background of the card was created using the 3 little sprinkles and i inked up each one using different colours and then randomally stamped…it took longer than the colouring but i was so pleased with how it turned out. I also really like that is this a building stamp set and you can build your own cupcakes, which to me has so many possibilities.
I have coloured the cupcake using my Spectrum Noir Markers and I used my Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen on the cupcake wrapper and also on the sentiment.
You can see the sparkle here and i thought it just added that something extra.
The Cupcake I fussy cut and adhered using Foam Tape. The Circle I have used some distress ink to give the blue “glow” to make the image pop slightly.
For the sentiment I heat embossed and then flagged the ends, I then decided to double score and fold to give it some extra dimension, but it does fold fairly flat for posting.
I hope you liked the card, if you don’t own this stamp set I honestly highly recommend it, I am a huge Avery Elle fan anyway but this set just has so many fun little extras that can be used for different things.
The list of supplies are below.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
